Christine O’Donnell Wants You to Buy C Street

My new book, C Street: The Fundamentalist Threat to American Democracy, is officially out today. I was at C Street this morning, as it happens, for some fellowship with Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), and some pretty little Christian gals who brought us our coffee and muffins when Senator DeMint says, “Whoah, there, boy — I’m receiving a signal — who’s that — yessirree, it’s Jesus. And He has a message. Jesus says He wants you to send some money to Christine O’Donnell, Republican Senate candidate in Delaware, to help that li’l filly with her fight against masturbation. Wait — there’s more. What’s that Jesus? ‘C Street‘? By Jeff Sharlet? You mean the Jew? You want us to buy a copy?” At which point Sen. John Ensign, a gracious man, arrived late for our fellowship, carrying a stack of copies for everyone.

And so we had our marching orders: Help Christine O’Donnell fight masturbation. Failing that, buy a copy of C Street. Jesus says it’ll help Christine get elected. I know, it doesn’t make sense, but Jesus, as filtered through the minds of C Street, is like that. Which is why you need my new book, which comes with a special decoder ring.
