We shouldn’t have to make videos for this, reminders read to the sound of the drumbeat. We shouldn’t need to codify it with charters, or reach out to Desmond Tutu, or scour the halls of high schools for articulate spokespeople. But we do. The Charter for Compassion is a project started by good ol’ Karen Armstrong—nun, epileptic, and TED Prize recipient—in hopes of bringing back that ever-elusive Golden Rule. In a multi-faith, international collaboration, the charter will be released in a week, on November 12. Check them out at charterforcompassion.org.
