This just in from Brooklyn, where Jesus has possibly appeared on a Latvian Easter egg made by Ingrid Ducmanis. What are Latvian Easter eggs? Ingrid says: “You wrap eggs in onion skins and then wrap a cloth around them and bind it with thread. Then you boil the whole little package for about 15 minutes. The patterns are totally random and organic.”
Ingrid asked me if this is an image of Our Lord. I think it may very well be, if Our Lord were wearing a bandanna around the lower half of his face and neck (perhaps at a protest?), and if said Lord were accompanied by a free-spirited female companion in an old-fashioned dress holding a tambourine insouciantly. (Look to the right of the Lamb of God.)
Yes, I would say to you Ingrid, it’s Jesus, and it’s also Mary Magdalene, and they are campaigning for love.
A short primer in Latvian Easter-egg-making:
Wrap in onion skin.
Wrap in cloth.
